Homeslice puppetry workshop

Monday October 5th from 4-6:30pm at VRmont Studios!
Come learn to build a high quality sock puppet with us! This class teaches the basics of creating a puppet character, all the elements essential for this, and how to turn that into a puppet. Then students will learn to build a mouth plate and by using this plate as well as some foam for a "skull", they will give their puppets a much greater range of motion and movement than an average sock puppet. Students will then proceed to create their characters and build their puppets bringing their socks to life!
Eric Weiss is a teacher, puppet builder, & sole proprietor of Homeslice Puppetry. He specializes in building custom puppets and teaching puppetry classes and workshops. Eric is an award winner in professional puppet building from BJ Guyer and the Stan Winston School of Character Arts. He was also a Teacher and Program Coordinator with an outdoor and experiential education program called Nature’s Classroom for 15 years as well. Although primarily self-taught in the field of puppetry, he has been building and teaching puppetry since 2006. Eric also serves on the planning board of PIET (Puppeteers in Education & Therapy), The South Hadley Cultural Council, is an active member of the Connecticut Guild of Puppetry & the National Capitol Puppetry Guild, President & founding member of the Western Massachusetts Puppetry Guild, and is the Northeast Regional Director for the Puppeteers of America.
